Description:
REGCLR3 measures the improvement in functions of patients with a diagnosis of Bunion Pain . Improvement is measured as a reduction in pain after an intervention. The patient must be treated, it is up to the medical provider to select the medically appropriate treatment. Treatments may include surgical intervention, shoe wear modifications, orthotics, and physical therapy.
Upon arrival, the provider must record the patient's pain scale on a scale of 1-10. Once reported, there must be a treatment provided to reduce the patient's pain. On the second and all subsequent visit, the pain level also needs to be documented in the medical record. If the patient reports that their pain level has improved by 50% or more since the first visit, the measure has been met. Since there must be a documented decrease in pain, there must be at least two visits to be eligible to meet this measure
If the patient’s pain is not significantly less, meaning 50% or more than the first visit, the measure has not been met. If the patient's pain level is not recorded, the measure has not been met.
There are two exclusions for this measure. Patients who were prescribed opioids for pain are excluded from this measure. This is because it would not be known if the decrease in pain is caused by the opioids or caused by the treatment provided. Also, patients who did not come in for the second visit will be excluded from this measure. There would be no way to document a second pain scale.
For all MIPS measures, you can earn up to 10 points. The points accumulated are related directly to your performance on that measure. REGCLR 3 is a measure that is specific to the podiatry field which allows you to demonstrate that you are providing quality care. In order to score 8 points on this measure, only 40% of patients must have a significant pain reduction. With this being said, this is a phenomenal measure to participate in.
Your goal is to have 6 measures with a score of 8, 9, or 10, to get a perfect 60/60 in quality, and to report a high performance on Podiatry Specific Measures.
Many of the EHRs we work with utilize a tool that allows you to save the information to a database which then allows you to send us a report from the EHR. If your EHR does not have this tool, there is a spreadsheet accessible to you that will allow you to manually document their pain moving forward. The link to the downloadable spreadsheet is:https://www.registryclearinghouse.com/measurement-spreadsheets.
