Description:
REGCLR1 measures the improvement in function of the patients with a diagnosis of Heel Pain that have a reduction in pain after an intervention. No specific treatment is required to meet this measure; it simply requires a significant decrease in the patient's pain as a result of your intervention. Treatments may include custom orthotics, prefabricated orthotics, injections for heel pain, night splints, stretching, and physical therapy.
When a patient comes in for a visit, the provider is required to perform a pain evaluation, where the pain level is documented using a standardized pain scale of 1-10. Upon the second visit, and each subsequent visit, the provider is required to document the patient's pain level. If the patient's pain has improved 50% or more than the measure has been met.
If the patient’s pain is not significantly less, meaning 50% or more than the first visit, the measure has not been met. If the patient's pain level is not recorded, the measure has not been met.
There are two exclusions for this measure. Patients who were prescribed opioids for pain are excluded from this measure. This is because it would not be known if the decrease in pain is caused by the opioids or caused by the treatment provided. Also, patients who did not come in for the second visit will be excluded from this measure. There would be no way to document a second pain scale.
For all MIPS measures, you can earn up to 10 points. If you have more than 78.95% of your patients to have a significant decrease in pain, then you will earn 10 points for this measure. Your goal is to have 6 measures with a score of 8, 9, or 10, to get a perfect 60/60 in quality, and to report a high performance on Podiatry Specific Measures. Small practices will receive six bonus quality points.
Many of the EHRs we work with utilize a tool that allows you to save the information to a database which then allows you to send us a report from the EHR. If your EHR does not have this tool, there is a spreadsheet accessible to you that will allow you to manually document their pain moving forward. The link to the downloadable spreadsheet is:https://www.registryclearinghouse.com/measurement-spreadsheets.
